You are bidding on a pearl paint system 1/2 fluid OZ Of basecoat 1/2 fluid OZ Of pearl coat Application tips First coat is a basecoat of color. Second a second coat of transparent pearl color.This coat is applied very thin to give the pearl effect. In order to successfully match your color you should practice on a scrap piece of metal. Application First apply the basecoat. This is the main color coat. Make sure this has thoroughly dried for at least a few hours. Next, apply pearl coat layer. This color goes on very thinly and you must practice a bit to get it right. Make sure to get the primer and basecoat are sanded very smooth before applying the additional stages of paint. The primer should be wet sanded before applying the paint. Once pearl coat is applied over the basecoat, it becomes very difficult to smooth the basecoat paint. You can use #1500 grit sand paper(available separately in my touch up kit selling for $5.99) or rubbing compound to smooth the paint. Always let the basecoat dry thoroughly before applying the pearl coat . The real trick is applying the pearl coat over the basecoat to achieve the right color. It's like using a colored transparent piece of plastic over the basecoat to change the color. Add too little, and the basecoat won't be changed enough; add too much, and you will change the basecoat too much and have to start over again. Make sure you PRACTICE OFF the vehicle to see how it turns out and keep comparing your practice work to the vehicle color. Pearl coats are best sprayed, but if you use very thin coats brushing, you can do a reasonable job. Applying a pearl coat is more difficult than a regular base-coat/clearcoat combination but with some practice you can achieve satisfactory results. Application Tips Paint on a clean, dry surface. Paint when the temperature is between 60°F - 80°F (16°C - 27°C) with relative humidity of no more than 60%. Practice on a discardable object. Use only in a well ventilated area. Stir the paint well, prior to and intermittently during use. Keep away from heat, sparks and open flame. Paint will be shipped in a 1 ounce bottle the amount that is being sold is 1/2 ounce. A 1/2 ounce is plenty of paint to handle multiple repairs.
